Traditionally the dominant hand (the one you write with) is read for the life you are actively making, and the non-dominant hand for inherited tendencies. Do not assume the right hand is dominant — ask.

Sit in good daylight, let the hand relax, and look at the palm you are answering for. Skip anything you cannot see clearly — “Not sure” is a real answer here, and leaving a question blank is better than a guess.
